Letter: Society should praise one who stands firm in his convictions

It's the same Bible that casts a sinful label on many other human behaviors, such as stealing from others and killing your fellow man. It also says it's a sin to cheat your boss, commit adultery and to lust after women.

Could it be that too many have adopted the popular and humanistic belief in situational ethics, which can be reduced to the words "if it feels good at the time, go ahead and do it."

The lives of those who follow the Bible can't be dealt with so easily, though. The Bible is not similar to a Las Vegas buffet where you choose what suits you at the time, according to your appetite. The Bible is more like that plate of food your parents gave you as a child and said, "Eat all that's on your plate, it's good for you."

While it is true that mankind has rebelled against God's "plate of food" since the beginning of time, shouldn't we praise those who stand up for their faith in the Bible. After all, don't you think the one who made us gave us the instruction book we needed to operate?
