UNLV's Lunde shoots 69 in Japan

Andy Barnes of the University of Arizona and Japan's Hidemasa Hoshino had today's low scores of 4-under-par 68s as the two countries tied 6-6 after the first round of the 54-hole Fuji Xerox U.S.-Japan Collegiate Golf Championship in Asogun, Japan.

In doubles matches, the Americans went 2-1-1 in men's competition, and 0-1-1 in women's matches. Each match victory is worth two points and a tie worth one.

Barnes and James Driscoll of Virginia (71) beat Hideaki Someya of Nihon University and Toshiya Sakakura of Momoyama Gakuin 139-158.

Bill Lunde of UNLV (69) and Jeremy Parrott of Georgia (71) beat Keizoh Yoshida of Tohoku Fukushi and Syugoh Sakurai of Nihon University 140-147.
