Letter: Crack down on traffic violators

I think that many of the drivers here in Las Vegas must be colorblind. There are so many improper left turns on red arrows.

Where did the police go? Writing 100 tickets at $50 each is more income that the wages spent doing the job. If they were out on the streets seven days a week, think of the increased income.

After a while, the sight and driving habits of some of the drivers might improve. The traffic would flow better.

Speaking of traffic flow, put up "No U-Turn" signs on all of the major accident corners. Stop wasting money printing "Left Turn Only" under these arrows if, as I was told by Metro, U-turns are allowed at these corners.

Look at the posted speed-limit signs. Some of our wide streets have low speed limits. Regatta Drive between Mariner Drive and Harbor Island Drive is posted at 25 mph and no residences are on that street. Posted speed is 15 mph on Charleston Boulevard in front of the community college. But the limit is 25 on Decatur Boulevard in front of a high school. All school zones should be marked "when children are present." Or do we have schools in session on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays?

If they keep the police out in force and add the "No U-Turn" signs, I don't think it would take long to generate enough money to pay for our new water system and, at the same time, reduce our accident rate.
