Obituaries for May 4, 1998

Russell Anthony Cecala, 65, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 21, 1932, in Philadelphia. A resident for three years, he was a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by two daughters; two sons; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

BERNARD MOSS

Bernard Moss, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born April 14, 1923, in Ontario, Canada. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired electrician.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; one daughter, Linda Jones of Bermuda Dunes, Calif.; two sons, Gerry Moss of Las Vegas and Marcel Moss of Garden Grove, Calif.; three sisters; eight brothers; and three grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

LOIS L. NELLANS

Lois L. Nellans, 91, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 20, 1906, in Lockport, Ill. A resident for 43 years, she was a retired schoolteacher.

She is survived by one daughter, Lolita Clardy of Kansas City, Mo.; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

AGNES C. RAMSEY

Agnes C. Ramsey, 80, of White Salmon, Wash., died Thursday in an Oregon care center. She was born Oct. 23, 1917, in Northwood, N.D. A former Las Vegas resident for 25 years, she retired as office manager in the securities and investments business and was the first woman trust officer in Nevada.

She is survived by two sisters, Eileen Groshans of Port Richey, Fla., and Verna Wabschall of White Salmon; four brothers, Carl Carlson and Maynard Carlson, both of Williston, N.D., Duane Carlson of Durand, Mich., and Edward Carlson of Houston.

Cryptside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mausoleum, downtown. Anderson Funeral Home, Hood River, is handling out-of-state arrangements.

IRA OSCAR WELLS

Ira Oscar Wells, 86, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. He was born Jan. 9, 1912, in Brookhaven, Miss. A resident for a short time, he was a car repair foreman, a member of the Eastern Star, Loyal Order of the Moose and past master of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Clista; two sons, George O. Wells and Richard Lettie; one daughter, Virginia Lettie; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

MAE M. WIRTH

Mae M. Wirth, 82, of Fallon died Wednesday in Fallon. She was born May 18, 1915, in Cedar City, Utah. A former resident of Henderson, she was a retired hospital housekeeper.

She is survived by one daughter, Terry J. Jaeger of Harahan, La.; two sons, John Wirth of Henderson and William F. Wirth of San Antonio; and one sister, Verla J. Faulkner of Bountiful, Utah.

Visitation is scheduled 9-11 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

MATT ZONA

Matt Zona, 97, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 26, 1901, in Italy. A resident for 37 years, he was a retired cement finisher.

He is survived by one brother, Sam Zona of Newport Beach, Calif.; and one nephew, Pat Rosato of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 1 p.m. services Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
