The candidates have until May 18 to file.
The first candidate in line - former Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce President Mark Smith - found himself filing alongside Clark County Commissioner Myrna Williams. Smith is seeking to unseat Williams.
Clark County School Board member Larry Mason was among more than 30 incumbents who filed the first day, saying he wanted to get the filing process out of the way.
Another incumbent who filed was Democratic Assemblywoman Genie Ohrenschall. She showed up with her daughter, Katie Ross. The lawmaker recently was found guilty of neglecting her daughter's medical and education needs. Clark County School Board member Judy Witt has filed against Ohrenschall for the District 12 seat.
Others who filed on the first day included Clark County Sheriff Jerry Keller and District Attorney Stewart Bell.
