Boy may have witnessed kidnapping

Metro Police are relying upon a 12-year-old boy's recollections in its efforts to track down the possible kidnappers of a young girl.

The incident happened about 8:15 p.m. Monday as the boy was riding his bicycle near Cielo Vista Avenue and Dew Point Lane. The little girl had been riding a red tricycle eastbound on Cielo Vista when a white Bronco pulled up to the curb, the passenger door opened and a white female adult grabbed both the child and the tricycle, said Sgt. Al Salinas of Metro's missing persons detail.

The boy told police that the Bronco next pulled up alongside him as he was riding home and the same woman yelled to him, but he ignored her and continued riding home with the Bronco following him. Once home, the boy ran inside to tell his mother who went outside and saw the Bronco driving away.

The possible kidnapping victim is described as having long brown hair and was wearing a blue and white horizontal striped shirt, blue jean shorts and slip-on shoes.

Police are asking anyone who picked up a child in the area of Cielo Vista and Dew Point to contact police at 229-3111. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call 229-LOST (5678).
