Henderson Parks and Recreation will host a public speaking workshop 9 a.m.-noon May 23 at Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris Street. The workshop costs $30 and is open to participants 18 and older.
The workshop is designed to help novice and seasoned speakers overcome the fear of speaking in front of people, which is also known as glossophobia. According to Toastmasters International, most people would rather go to the dentist than speak in front of a group.
For registration, call 565-212l.
Composer and guitarist Chris Proctor will perform at 7 p.m. May 30 at Civic Center Plaza, 200 Water St. The performance is sponsored by Henderson Parks and Recreation. Advance tickets are $6, $3 for youth under 17 and seniors 55 and older at any Henderson recreation center.
Proctor has released seven CDs, including his latest release "Only Now," which showcases an eclectic mix of solo guitar, mandolin-guitar duets and Celtic-flavored jigs.
