Pedestrian hit by CAT bus
Tuesday, May 5, 1998 | 9:56 a.m.
A woman remained hospitalized in critical condition today after being hit by a Citizens Area Transit bus.
Elizabeth J. Novonty, 61, of Las Vegas was knocked to the ground on Charleston Boulevard near Shadow Lane while in the center of three westbound travel lanes at 3:47 p.m.
Metro Police said Aurora L. Nunez, 66, the CAT bus driver, had made a right turn onto Charleston when the accident happened. It was not immediately clear whether Novonty was in the crosswalk at the time or if there had been a green pedestrian walk signal permitting pedestrians to cross north to south.
Police said southbound Shadow traffic did have a green light.
