Las Vegas High School senior Ronnie Jones, the leading scorer for the Wildcats' 4A state runner-up boys basketball squad, will sign to play for Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Wednesday.
Jones, a 5-10 guard, averaged 19.5 points and 4.5 assists this winter. A member of the Sun's all-state first-team, he shot 42 percent from three-point range and 49 percent from the field.
"He's got all the tools to be a success at the next level," Las Vegas coach Tom Farnsworth said. "He has point guard skills, but anytime he steps on the court he can score 30 points if he wants to."
Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a Division I school in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, finished the 1997-98 season with a 3-24 overall record and a 2-12 conference mark.
