Ethics panel to discuss complaints

The Nevada Commission on Ethics is expected to decide whether to proceed with an investigation into Clark County Commissioners Myrna Williams and Lorraine Hunt today.

The hearing, which was to start at 9 a.m., is closed to the public. Williams and Hunt are being brought before the board for awarding airport concession contracts to friends and business acquaintances.

On Thursday, the commission is scheduled to hear testimony in an ethics complaint filed against Las Vegas Mayor Jan Laverty Jones and her hiring of Ann Holland as deputy city manager.

Holland, who used to work for Jones' husband at the Stratosphere hotel-casino, was hired as a third city manager earlier this year -- a position that didn't exist until she started the job.
