Metalwork and jewelry at Winchester Gallery

The artworks in the exhibit are an examination of three women's unique views of the world. Each artist's work is an interpretation that may reflect humor, whimsy, deep though or the beauty inherent in everyday life.

Metalsmith Vuillemot earned bachelor's and master's of fine arts degrees at the University of Arizona. She has taught art at the Community of College of Southern Nevada since 1976. Her work has been seen in many exhibitions and was recently chosen as part of the Nevada Institute for Contemporary Art's Rio Hotel Project.

Hinderliter, a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, has received bachelor's and master's of science degrees from UNLV. In addition to metalwork and jewelry, she creates large sculptural pieces, with local installations at UNLV and the Helen J. Stewart School.

Born in Toronto, Hoffman studied metal-smithing in Phonix before coming to Las Vegas four years ago. A ceramic of hers was awarded first place in a recent show at Lake Tahoe Community College.

Winchester Gallery, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, is open 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. There is no admission fee.

Winchester Gallery exhibits are sponsored by the Clark County Department of Parks and Recreation's Cultural Affairs Division. Additional funding has been provided by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency.
