Letter: Titanic offers lessons on storing nuclear waste

Some American Indians have long acknowledged the tendency of mankind to feel too sure about what can be accomplished. In fact, the Indians purposely weave a mistake into their blankets to admit this lack of perfection so as not to offend their gods.

My hope is that, despite our society's emphasis on speed and entertainment, we let the Titanic's message seep into our consciousness in a way that is as long-lasting as the resting place where the "perfect" ship lies.
