The annexation of 1,662 parcels on county islands within the city could cost the county up to $700,000 a year in tax revenues, Galloway said.
He added that county fire stations on West Fourth Street and in Stead are both near Reno fire stations, so fire safety would not be jeopardized.
Last week, Reno Mayor Jeff Griffin and County Commission Chairwoman Joanne Bond announced an intent to study the consolidation of city and county fire departments to improve efficiency.
