Quinton Wilson, 63, died when his vehicle crashed into the NHP car of Trooper Steve Pagni.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office, which conducted the investigation into the crash, on Monday said toxicology results show Wilson had a blood alcohol level of 0.27 - more than twice the amount that constitutes drunken driving under Nevada law.
Pagni had pulled over another motorist along U.S. 395 south of Reno when the accident occurred in the early hours of May 7.
Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the third vehicle suffered only minor injuries. Pagni was not injured.
Investigators plan to turn their findings over to the Washoe County District Attorney's Office for review later this week.
