Resort companies expect to settle dispute on Atlantic City

Dan Lee, Mirage chief financial officer, said his company expects to team with Boyd Gaming in developing the Atlantic City project. But he said Mirage is still talking with Circus Circus Enterprises, Inc. over differences on the venture.

Earlier this year Mirage terminated an Atlantic City development agreement with Boyd and Circus, sparking a series of lawsuits among the three Las Vegas companies.

Lee told the CIBC Oppenheimer Gaming and Lodging Conference here that construction on the Mirage property in Atlantic City would begin this year, and the resort will open in 2002.

Meanwhile, MGM Grand President Alex Yemenidjian said MGM has assembled most of the land for its own Atlantic City project, but won't invest the planned $700 million into the venture unless traffic and infrastructure problems are solved.
