Sparks mayor apologizes for misuse of city staff

Breslow committed using up to $30,000 in city funds if donations fall short of the event's $93,000 cost, but no public vote was ever taken by the City Council.

Breslow has already raised $55,000 in private donations for the event, which will include a public concert by the Four Tops and a street festival in Victorian Square.

The mayor called a special meeting on Monday to apologize. He said he is "naive" at such matters but added that his actions were out of support for Sparks.
