Dave Milligan acting warden at NNCC

Prison spokesman Glen Whorton confirmed that Milligan is filling in as NNCC warden pending selection of a permanent replacement for former NNCC Warden George Grigas, who submitted his resignation May 1.

Whorton said he had no information on why Grigas quit. Grigas was out of town and not immediately available for comment.

Grigas reportedly had been overruled by state Prisons Director Bob Bayer when he tried to put a senior guard on administrative leave pending a probe into allegations that he received oral sex from an inmate at the medium-security prison.

The attorney general's office has confirmed that the allegations are being reviewed. Bayer said he knew there was an investigation going on at NNCC but had no details.

Bayer also denied having any discussions with Grigas about the case, and said he hadn't talked with him since he quit.
