Letter: Job applications insulting, infuriating

Well, the lady must have been in my pocket, because I lived that story. And that was only four of 51 insulting and infuriating questions. Not only that, but the pencils they gave us to work with did not erase well enough to cover up any of the answers that we might have erased.

I am totally convinced that it was on purpose, and that it was a psychological profile, not a job application. They don't want to give us a polygraph, because it would be too expensive.

After the fourth question, I stood up and went to the window and handed the paper to the person behind the desk and said that I'm sorry, but these questions make me feel guilty and I haven't done anything. Some of the people heard me and agreed.

As badly as I needed a job, as I have been out of work for quite some time, I was extremely hurt and bothered by the application questions. I'm not a radical looking to take over; I'm just looking for a job to feed my family and a company that will give me a chance to earn a small part of the American dream.

Why must they force us to lie to get a job? If we all told the truth on the application at Bally's, not any of us would have gotten a job. I don't mean that to lie to get a job is what anyone should do. I mean that the application at Bally's forces us to do just that.

I am 56 years old and have found that age discrimination is rampant in this town, also.
