A 17-year-old Cheyenne High School student was killed Tuesday when the car he was driving overturned after crashing into a power pole near Craig Road and Decatur Boulevard.
Pablo Roig, 17, of Las Vegas, was dead at the scene of the 9:30 a.m. accident, a coroner's office spokeswoman said today.
Two teenage passengers were treated for minor injuries and released from University Medical Center, North Las Vegas Police said.
Witnesses told investigators they saw the driver of the 1996 Chevrolet Camaro, who was heading west, speeding and weaving in and out of traffic just before the accident. Witnesses also told officers they saw teenagers hanging out of the car's windows, police said.
After striking two power poles, the car flipped over, police said. The accident knocked out power for more than two hours to about 100 customers.
