LV man held in Stern threat

A Las Vegas man is being held in connection with death threats aimed at radio "shock jock" Howard Stern, whose nationally syndicated show is based in New York.

Michael Lance Carvin, 43, was arrested April 29 in Hilton Head, S.C., while visiting a relative. According to a criminal complaint filed in New York, Carvin, purported to be a longtime Las Vegas resident, sent letters to Stern that included threats to him and members of his family.

Carvin was convicted in 1976 of threatening President Ford. He served six years of a 10-year sentence at a North Carolina federal prison. Also, according to reports, he was arrested in 1975 and charged with pulling a toy gun on then-presidential hopeful Ronald Reagan.
