Letter: Planning Commission criticized for not listening to residents

Several Summerlin residents attended the meeting to voice their opinions as to why this project should not be approved, but it was evident that not one of the commissioners was listening, and not one of them could give us a good reason as to the positive effects this would have on our neighborhood.

The chaos this would create is going to be horrific: the traffic congestion, the smell of gas fumes and the noise of the car wash right across the street will be intolerable.

Immediately after our last resident spoke, Michael Mack stated without hesitation that he would approve this plan for the Herbst family because they have been in Las Vegas for a long time and have not caused any problems. Let me say to Mack: My family has lived in Las Vegas for a long time, also, and believe me we have not broken any laws or given anyone a problem.

Because Mack believes in this project so deeply and obviously likes the smell of gasoline, he should put this project in his back yard or even in the Herbst family vicinity. The way the Planning Commission treated us left us to believe that this is a done deal no matter what the citizens think.

If the city is left to people such as this, then look forward to the fall of Las Vegas in the future. The building has got to be limited.
