Letter: Vanishing virtues

Fifty years later, if the pollsters are to be believed, the majority of our countrymen believe that lies, dishonor, deceit and betrayal are irrelevant in the schemes of their lives and are acceptable and condoned as long as their pocketbooks are full.

Our national downward spiral from those more glorious days in our history is so tragic. I deeply mourn the loss of 292,131 American lives, sacrificed in the mistaken belief that our way of life was worth saving. What a waste; we simply were not worth it.

Emotionally, spiritually and philosophically, I am no longer a citizen of the United States of America.
