Grand Casinos keeping options open on Las Vegas resort

Representatives of the Minneapolis company plan to appear before the Clark County Planning Commission Tuesday to seek a one-year extension of a use permit. The permit covers a 50-story hotel that would include 2,885 rooms. It would be built just south of Harmon Avenue on the Strip.

The Clark County Commission approved the project last October, but the use permit is scheduled to expire if no extension is obtained.

Grand Casino executives say they have no immediate plans to move ahead with the project. They say they want to see the impact on the gaming market when 20,000 new hotel rooms open on the Las Vegas Strip in the next two years.
