Restoration proceeding for Kiel Ranch

Work has been underway on off-site improvements such as an access road and a parking lot for the property.
The work is now entering a second phase, with restoration planned for an adobe structure that was built sometime between 1856 and the 1870s. North Las Vegas city officials say swift action is needed to save the building.
The city has approved a $194,911 contract with Louis Berger and Associates to brace the building, stabilize it and restore it.
Councilwoman Paula Brown said care will be taken to make sure the restoration work is consistent with the materials used to construct the original building. Experts from UNLV will help ensure the materials are a match.
The ranch was entered on the National Register of Historic Place in 1975.
