Four LV radio stations sold

Two separate major broadcast deals will have minimal effect on stations owned by companies involved in the transactions.

Four Las Vegas radio stations operated by Jacor Communications Inc. are among 232 being acquired by San Antonio, Texas-based Clear Channel Communications Inc. in a $4.4 billion stock and debt deal.

"This will impact us in two areas: Our paychecks are going to change color and the nameplate on the front door will be different," said Mike Ginsburg, a vice president of Jacor Las Vegas. "Everything else will stay pretty much the same."

Ginsburg said no personnel changes are anticipated and the formats of the four stations are expected to stay the same.

Jacor operates KSNE 106.5-FM, KWNR 95.5-FM, KQOL 93.1-FM and KFMS 102-FM. KSNE, which airs as Sunny 106.5, plays soft rock and KQOL mixes contemporary and oldies. The other two stations have country formats.

The four stations will mark Clear Channel's entry into the Southern Nevada radio market.

In a separate deal, Baltimore-based Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. said it plans to sell about $500 million worth of its 110 radio and television stations to finance new acquisitions and pay down debt.

The company owns 56 television stations, including two in Las Vegas, independent KFBT Channel 33 and KVWB Channel 21, the WB network affiliate.

The company didn't specify which, or how many, stations would be sold. Sinclair and local station officials did not return calls for comment.
