Letter: Scandal's a front

Republicans are not any more moral or sexually pure than anybody else. They are merely using all this morality crap to try to get rid of a president they have never accepted. Of course they might give some naive voters the impression they walk on water but none of them want their lives investigated, and for good reason.

In fact, many of the men who are judging President Clinton have at one time in their lives done exactly all that he is accused of or confessed to, right down to the kinky sex, even while attending their Sunday schools and Bible studies. Of course, it is much more convenient to peep into someone else's bedroom then defend their bankrupt ideology; therefore, the impeachment hearings.

They want to run Clinton out of office because they couldn't beat him at the ballot box with their silly "cut taxes and pray in school" platforms. They can't stand it because he tried to bring guaranteed health care to all Americans, pushed for and got the Family and Medical Leave Act and stopped the mean-spirited Contract with America in its tracks, at least its meanest parts.

They can't stand the fact he has resisted their cherished goal of destroying Medicare, abolishing Social Security (privatization), ruining the environment and decimating public education, repealing the separation of church and state among many other mean spirited endeavors.
