Teens who accidental lit fire enter pleas

Several downtown businesses were closed after the fire engulfed the vacant building across from the State Capitol in April.

The two Douglas County teens were runaways who were exploring the building with a homemade torch and accidentally lit some netting in the building, investigators said.

Jimmie Guthrie, 16, pleaded no contest to failing to guard or extinguish a fire. Jeremiah Bashaw, 16, pleaded no contest to trespassing.

They face sentencing Oct. 21 on the misdemeanor charges.
