Under a plea bargain with federal prosecutors, Richard Shetler, 44, agreed to cooperate in the investigation of Edwards, a high-rolling gambler and Cajun rogue who previously beat corruption charges.
Earlier last week, San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. pleaded guilty to concealing an alleged scheme by Edwards to extort $400,000 in payoffs in return for a license for another riverboat casino.
DeBartolo agreed to testify against Edwards.
Edwards has not been charged in either case but has been under FBI investigation for two years and has said he expects to be indicted. He has denied any wrongdoing.
