Brief: Man gets eight months for telemarketing fraud

Burke, who pled guilty to multiple counts of wire fraud, was the last of 16 defendants convicted in the case to be sentenced. The restitution ordered to victims from the 16 totals more than $6 million. He was sentenced Friday.

Telemarketers from June 1993 to May 1994 solicited charitable contributions from mostly elderly victims, promising them prizes in connection with a tax deductible donation to a sham charity named "The Express Line Foundation," said Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa.
