CAT reports 4 million riders in September

Over 4 million people rode the Citizens Area Transit bus system last month, making September the largest monthly ridership ever on CAT.

Citizens Area Transit, a service of the Regional Transportation Commission of Clark County said they averaged 135,000 riders a day in September.

Kurt Weinrich, director of the Regional Transportation Commission said September showed nearly a 20 percent increase in riders from the same time period last year.

Weinrich said the commission's expanded service, including the introduction of special event services, may have increased the numbers. Those services included bus service to the Sam Boyd Stadium for UNLV football games, the Las Vegas Speedway and a Cashman Field event.
