A more "user friendly" Internal Revenue Service will hold a Problem Solving Day on Oct. 20 from noon till 8 p.m., according to a newly-appointed IRS taxpayer advocate for the state of Nevada.
Deborah Grant said anyone who has an IRS problem should call 455-1287 and make an appointment to meet with an agent at 4750 W. Oakey Blvd.
"A lot of problems are related to refunds," noted Grant, who only recently became the local advocate but has been with the IRS 18 years. "We can help locate where the payments are."
And help will be given to anyone who needs it in filling out tax forms.
Grant says though she is a new advocate, the program has been around more than 10 years.
The Problem Solving Day began last November.
The advocacy program received a boost in its role because of the recent move to overhaul the IRS because of past practices in the way audits were handled.
"We are a stronger program," said Grant, explaining that there is now better networking within the IRS and that she can "cut through the red tape" to solve a problem.
The last Problem Solving Day was in January, when more than 200 cases were resolved.
"Problem Solving Day is a great opportunity for our customers," said District Director Jack B. Cheskaty.
"We provide personal service and help resolve their tax concerns. We also educate our customers about our Taxpayer Advocate, who can help them with tax issues year-round."
