The Gold River was bought by California entrepreneur Allen Paulson in 1996 and granted a gaming license in October 1997.
Renovations include new tropical foliage featuring hundreds of palm trees, a water fountain at the main entrance, a full service hair and nail salon, and two new bars. New entertainment will include Spice on Ice, a tropical ice show.
The River Palms has 1,000 rooms and a 1,100-machine casino. The resort overlooks the Colorado River.
