Jones gets help from first lady

First Lady Hillary Clinton will visit Las Vegas on Friday to help Mayor Jan Laverty Jones in her bid for governor.

The first lady will visit Halle Hewetson Elementary School at 10:45 a.m and will speak to students, parents and faculty about education issues, said Denise Cardinal, a spokeswoman for the Jones' campaign.

After visiting the school, she will attend a fund-raiser at Chin's in the Fashion Show Mall at 1 p.m. So far, 180 people have signed up for the $500-per-plate luncheon.

Both events are closed to the general public, Cardinal said.
