Letter: The new way to get to the truth

The government, to prove this person lied, doesn't challenge the accused; it goes after the other party. At first it tries to threaten her, and when that doesn't work, the government buys her off with total immunity.

Now she can say anything she wants and no one can challenge her. That is the new way to get to the truth, no matter who you crucify.

As for the vote in the House the other day, it reminds me of the time a cruise ship was burning at sea. While the captain and his officers were controlling and quieting the passengers, everything was under control.

But when the passengers did get to the lifeboats, most of them were in the water, each manned by a couple of the crew or the staff of the ship.

In other words "The rats leave the sinking ship."
