Rhoda J. Burke, 60, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 8, 1938, in Chicago. A resident for eight years, she was a waitress.

She is survived by her husband, Oscar; three daughters, Kim Sakalis, Tracey Agopian and Rhonda Agopian; two brothers, Wayne Taylor of Pahrump and Lee Taylor; one sister, Eileen Earle; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Joseph John Catania

Joseph John Catania, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born June 25, 1915, in Los Angeles. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired lithographer for Danka Business Services and a World War II Navy veteran who served aboard the Jason.

He is survived by one son, Frank Catania of Wilmington, Calif.; one brother, Carlo Catania of Corsgold, Calif.; and one sister, Bena Razzler of West Linn, Ore.

A memorial service will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 220 N. 14 St. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Miles T. Curry

The Rev. Miles T. Curry, 63, of North Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born July 23, 1935, in Ohio. A resident for nine years, he was a minister, owner and founder of the United World Outreach Mission of Mercy and the American Christian Justice Association.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Simmons Curry.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 3 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Dr. Leon H. Dantzig

Dr. Leon H. Dantzig, 69, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 9, 1929, in Trenton, N.J. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired physician.

He is survived by his wife, Rea W.; five daughters, Tara Winer of Cherry Hill, N.J., Lynn Dantzig of Phoenix, Jodi, Abbe Dantzig and Marla of New Jersey; two sons, Steven Dantzig of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Michael Dantzig of Las Vegas; one brother, Henry Dantzig of East Randolph, Vt.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be Thursday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Michael Ellis Sr.

Michael Ellis Sr., 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 6, 1917, in Chicago. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired maintenance worker and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Michael Ellis Jr. of Las Vegas and Michael Ellis and William Ellis, both of Fall River, Mass.; two daughters, Nancy Ellis and Marlene Ellis, both of Fall River; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9-10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

John Fink

John Fink, 81, of Las Vegas died Oct. 6 in Las Vegas. He was born May 2, 1917, in Michigan. A resident for 20 years, he was a welder at a chemical company and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one sister, Marie Sobocinski of Michigan.

Graveside services were 1:30 p.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Penni A. FitzGerald

Penni A. FitzGerald, 59, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born March 2, 1939, in Salt Lake City. A resident for 58 years, she was a retired management assistant.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis; one stepson, Dennis FitzGerald of Los Angeles; one stepdaughter, Kathy Terry of Billings, Mont.; and two brothers, Terrence Powers of San Diego and Randell Powers of Salt Lake City.

A memorial service will be 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Mercedes Gerena

Mercedes Gerena, 82, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local health care center. She was born Oct. 31, 1915, in Valencia, Valenzuela. A resident for three years, she was a retired insurance title processor and a member of Gold Star Wives.

She is survived by her husband, Justo Renta; two sons, Mike Gerena and Keith Lee, both of Las Vegas; and three sisters, Olga Wendolowski of Hatfield, Mass., and Julia Dibe and Cecila Cedeno, both of Santurce, Puerto Rico.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today with a 5 p.m. service in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Opal C. Jones

Opal C. Jones, 87, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 19, 1911, in Clinton, Iowa. A resident for 11 years, she was an apartment manager.

She is survived by one son, Jack R. Vahary of Las Vegas.

Burial will be private. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Frank W. Kraemer Jr.

Frank W. Kraemer Jr., 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born June 28, 1917, in Oak Park, Ill. A resident for five years, he was a retired owner-operator of a pharmacy, a member of American College of Apothecaries and past president of Amarillo Pharmaceutical Association.

He is survived by his wife, Ilse; one stepson, Hugh Dugan of San Luis Opispo, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Leslie Scappatura of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Marian Joan Lucia

Marian Joan Lucia, 65, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born March 28, 1933, in Fresno, Calif. A resident for 24 years, she was a homemaker, a member of the Swing Dance Club, Black Mountain Golf Club and Las Vegas Blues Society.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; one daughter, Dolly Lucia, and one son, Rob Lucia, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Michael Leonardo of Selma, Calif.; two sisters, Maureen Heitzig and Bridget Fornaro, both of Fresno, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Lillian M. Magahay

Lillian M. Magahay, 94, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local convalescent center. She was born Jan. 30, 1904, in Edmonton, Alberta. A resident for one year, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Lilias Gordon of Las Vegas, Lorraine Atkins of Benicia, Calif., and Diane Cowan of Kerrville, Texas; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Maria Moreno

Maria Moreno, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Jalisco, Mexico. A resident for 10 years, she was a child-care worker.

She is survived by two daughters, Rosario Torres and Lilia Moreno; three brothers, Gregorio Moreno, Jose Moreno and Miguel Moreno; one sister, Josefa Moreno; and five grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, followed by burial in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Seymour Owen Pritchard

Seymour Owen Pritchard, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. A retired employee of the city of Las Vegas and a World War II and Korean War veteran, he was born May 4, 1915, in Hinsdale, Mont., where he was instrumental in establishing a philanthropic foundation named the Do More Trust.

He is survived by two nieces, Val (Mohar) Fox of Las Vegas and Carol Holden of Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Conrad A. Rice

Conrad A. Rice, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1915, in Donora, Pa. A resident for seven years, he was a steel mill supervisor and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Conrad J. Rice of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Charles 'Robby' Robinson Sr.

Charles "Robby" Robinson Sr., 65, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Queens, N.Y. A resident for 29 years, he was a retired casino operating engineer and a Korean War and Vietnam War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Winniefred J.; one daughter, Regina Lola Robinson, and one son, Charles Robinson Jr., both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 1-5 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Frankie Lee Sprague

Frankie Lee Sprague, 87, of Pahrump died Sunday in a local health care center. She was born Aug. 11, 1911, in Cheek, Okla. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Billy Meryl Sprague of Washington state and Jerry F. Sprague of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Helen Lee Simmons of Pahrump; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Jack A. Stanley

Jack A. Stanley, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born April 1, 1921, in Grand Rapids, Mich. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired security officer for a jewelry store and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Georgine J.; one daughter, Bonnie L. Sargent, and one son, Court C. Stanley, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Robert M. Stanley of Huntsville, Ala.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Opal N. Starkey

Opal N. Starkey, 80, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born March 29, 1918, in Paden, Okla. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired pit clerk in the gaming industry.

She is survived by three daughters, Maxine Martin of Las Vegas, Lequetta Jones of Denver and Sharon Cobb of Littleton, Colo.; two sons, Jim McGuire of Graham, Texas, and Tony McGuire of Victorville, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 4 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Jane G. Sturza

Jane G. Sturza, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born June 8, 1924, in New York City. A resident for 4 1/2 years, she was a retired legal secretary and a member of the Las Vegas City of Hope.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Harold Sturza; three daughters, Hillary Joseph of Olympia, Wash., Elyse Smerling of Valencia, Calif., and Marci Leffert of Sarasota, Fla.; her mother, Sylvia Guttman of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

Vanessa Rae Tapia, 4, of Pahrump died Sunday near Jean. She was born April 20, 1994, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her father, Gary Dean Dillman of Las Vegas; her mother, Jean Webb, and one brother, Nicholas Webb, both of Pahrump; and her grandparents, Tillie and Julio Tapia of Henderson, Sandy Weber of Newbury Park, Calif., and Joann Tapia of Las Vegas.

Mary Walters

Mary Walters, 61, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born May 21, 1937, in Las Vegas. A resident for 61 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; one son, Steve Smith of Ellensburg, Wash.; one daughter, Kim Sandigo of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Allie R. Winchester

Allie R. Winchester, 96, of Enoch, Utah, died Oct. 11 in a St. George, Utah, convalescent center. She was born Feb. 5, 1902, in Jacksonville, Ill. A former Las Vegas resident for 28 years, she was the co-proprietor of a dress shop in Illinois and active in the Illinois Republican Party.

She was preceded in death by one son, William.

She is survived by one granddaughter, Nancy Lee Smith of Enoch; and three grandsons, Chad William, Ashley James and Stephan of Cedar City, Utah.
