Commissioners agree to plan to combine two Greenville casinos

The state Gaming Commission on Thursday gave the go-ahead for plans to move the Bayou Caddy's Jubilee casino to the current site of the Las Vegas casino, which will be turned 90 degrees.

One casino will feature a Las Vegas strip atmosphere; the other will have a Las Vegas downtown atmosphere, Scott E. Andress, attorney for Greenville Casino Partners Inc., Greenville Casino Partners, told the commission.

"The properties will have a common facade," Andress said.

Both casinos will do business under the name of Las Vegas Casino. The commission accepted the surrender of the Jubilee license.

Just before midnight on Oct. 14, the partnership closed the Las Vegas Casino for remodeling.

Jack O'Donnell, president of the Las Vegas, said Thursday the combined casino would open in five to six weeks. One reason for the delay is that it will take that long to get telephones installed in the consolidated casino, O'Donnell said.
