Letter: Rebels should Pak it in

In one year, the UNLV football team has gone from near the top of the nation in passing and scoring to the bottom with the same offensive personnel, except for one player. Coach Jeff Horton boastfully announced the Rebels could win without Jon Denton. The harm of this lie is that Horton believed it.

Inept quarterbacks is the problem with this year's Rebels. Horton says he has tried every quarterback he has. That's another lie. He has Bong Kuk Pak, a Las Vegas High School quarterback with excellent credentials. But Horton made him a wide receiver.

I watched Pak warm up before the Nevada-Reno game. His passes had the flattest trajectory of any I have seen in 25 years of watching Rebel football, except for Randall Cunningham's. This translates to the strongest arm.

Why won't Horton give a good, local boy a chance to show what he can do when everyone else has failed?
