Brief: Scenic Airlines parent posts record profit

SkyWest, the nation's eighth-largest regional carrier, posted net income of $12.9 million or 52 cents per share, a 72 percent increase over the $7.5 million or 36 cents recorded in the year-earlier quarter.

Revenues increased 41.3 percent to $113.5 million for the second quarter of fiscal 1999, compared with $80.3 million for the second quarter of fiscal 1998.

The nation's airlines are profiting with the price of fuel below last year's levels.

SkyWest Inc. also is the holding company of SkyWest Airlines, which flies in 13 western states as the express airlines for United's and Delta's commuter operations.
