Serena Robb said her brother, Barnett Slepian, lived in Reno for about 2 1/2 years starting in 1971.
He left medical school in Belgium and worked at the Veterans hospital and drove a cab to help her, a widowed mother of one who was pregnant with her second child.
She said that while he apparently was killed because he performed abortions, they represented a very small amount of his practice.
"Abortion was not what he chose to do. It was a very small percentage of his practice," she said.
