Editorial: McKinney-James for lieutenant governor

There are four candidates running for lieutenant governor: Independent American Daniel Hansen, Republican Lorraine Hunt, Democrat Rose McKinney-James and Libertarian Karen Savage.

One of the responsibilities of the lieutenant governor is to head the state commissions on tourism and economic development. And when looking at a candidate for lieutenant governor, one of the most important considerations is whether the candidate has the necessary qualities to be governor at a moment's notice. In this crucial area, McKinney-James is the best choice.

Along with her background in the private sector, McKinney-James has an outstanding record in public service. She was a commissioner on the then-Public Service Commission that oversaw utilities in this state and also has been the chief of staff for the Las Vegas city manager's office. Her intelligence and experience are exceptional.

McKinney-James would bring energy and professionalism to the office of lieutenant governor. She has a fresh approach to public service and would serve the state well in nearly every capacity.

The Sun endorses Rose McKinney-James for lieutenant governor.
