Major retail projects proposed for Douglas County

Developer John Serpa is seeking a zone change to allow construction of a major shopping center at U.S. 395 and Jacks Valley Road.
The proposal includes plans for three large retail stores and other commercial space.
Douglas County Commissioner Don Miner said retailers considering the site include Home Depot and Cosco.
Douglas County officials say developing large retail centers near the county's north boundary is necessary to stop the loss of sales-tax revenue that occurs when residents go to Carson City or Reno to shop.
Planning commissioners will consider Serpa's project on Tuesday.
