The Nevada Highway Patrol said the accident occurred around 6:15 a.m. about 20 miles east of Fernley.
Six occupants were ejected from the sport utility vehicle when the vehicle drifted off the road. The driver apparently overcorrected trying to regain control and the vehicle overturned, the patrol said.
Passing motorists stopped to assist two people who remained in the vehicle, which caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another died after being taken to Washoe Medical Center in Reno, authorities said.
One child was listed in critical and unstable condition late Monday. The others were listed in serious condition.
Names and ages of those involved were not immediately released.
