17th annual Great Reno Balloon Race set to get underway

Yes, a big black and white bovine will be one the many hot air balloons that take to the sky over Reno this weekend during the 17th annual Great Reno Balloon Race.
"It's the biggest balloon on the field," event director Marlene Olsen said of the 200,000 cubic-foot cow. "It just puts a smile on everyone's face. People like that black and white cow motif."
About 120 hot balloons are competing in this year's event, which kicks off Friday at Rancho San Rafael Park. The race begins at 6:45 a.m. each day, weather permitting.
Early risers can view the Dawn Patrol, which lifts off at 5:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
