Letter: It's time for nation to step up for Clinton

Where are the Jewish Americans (of which I am one) who pray for peace in the Middle East? Where are the Irish Americans who pray for peace in Northern Ireland? Where are the Black Americans who advocate a national dialogue of affirmative action and race relations?

Where are the Americans in favor of more gun control? Where are the parents of American schoolchildren in favor of better teachers and classroom conditions? Where are the American union members earning good wages and good benefits?

Where are the Americans whose HMOs or other health insurance plans deny them proper and timely health care? Where are the artists of America supported and encouraged by the National Endowment for the Arts? Where are the American minimum wage earners who are now earning more? And where are the American "baby boomers" who will need every dollar of a budget surplus for their Social Security?

President Clinton has spoken out for all of you. Clinton has supported legislation to help all of you. Clinton has gone out on a limb for all of you.

Where are the Americans speaking out on his behalf? Call your senators and congressman and tell them to stop the witch hunt and go back to work for Americans. And keep calling them until your voice is heard.
