Letter: Las Vegas needs to develop a super-amusement park

All I can say is bravo for the insight of Wynn and others have to make these future dreams a reality. However, may I offer a suggestion which can go hand in hand with the enthusiasm Wynn exhibited for the future?

Why not develop a "super" amusement park for the entertainment of children who accompany their parents to Las Vegas as well as for the children who reside here? Although a feeble attempt has been made to advertise Las Vegas as a family entertainment center, it is not.

But tourists aside, there are not adequate entertainment facilities for children who reside here as reported by my visiting grandchildren ages 10 to 16. It could also serve as an employment base for our young people.

Envision a vacation package with day passes to a nearby world-class amusement park which attracts children from five to 75. Supervised tours could free up the parents to play golf, swim, and enjoy some free time knowing the children are having a good time as well.

We should not underestimate the amount of money that parents are willing to spend on their children. Families still flock to Disneyland at $36 per ticket although the surrounding areas are offering hotels and restaurants who constantly seek ways to improve and satisfy the needs of the customer.

Providing this addition to Wynn's dream could result in truly making Las Vegas the "Entertainment Diamond in the Desert" which appeals to every age group.
