Ex-Rebel Misty Thomas honored

Misty Thomas and Chris Critelli became the latest selections for the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame.

Thomas, of Windsor, Ontario, and her father, Dr. Paul Thomas, who was inducted in 1980, comprise the first father-daughter combination in the hall. Misty Thomas, a 1984 Olympian, earned all-America status at UNLV and played on Canada's national team for seven years. A former University of British Columbia coach, she currently directs the Night Hoops program in Vancouver.

Critelli currently is coach of the Brock University women's basketball team in her hometown of St. Catharines, Ontario. A seven-year member of Canada's national team, the 1976 Olympian is the only person to win a basketball championship in universities in both Canadia (Laurentian) and the United States (Old Dominion).

The induction ceremony is Oct. 3 in Almonte, Ontario, the site of the hall and birthplace of basketball inventor Dr. James Naismith.
