Chiropractor's trial off to chaotic start

Roy Hansen wrapped himself in an American flag Tuesday to protest the proceedings.

Elko District Judge Jack Ames ordered Hansen handcuffed and threatened to put duct tape across his mouth if he didn't settle down.

Hansen did.

Then one supporter was kicked out of the courtroom and another stormed out, slamming the door behind him. Other supporters broke into tears or vocally protested the hearing.

Jurors, who had just been seated, were hustled away as the outbursts began.

Hansen was stripped of his license by the Nevada Chiropractic Board and faces two counts of practicing without a license. He offered to cure patients of cancer with a whirlpool bath he had set up in a trailer at a recreational vehicle park.

The trial is scheduled to last all week.
