Clinton figure hopes for career on Vegas Strip

Flowers, who nearly derailed President Clinton's bid for the White House in 1992, sang "Who's Got the Last Laugh Now?" and "Why Haven't I Heard From You?" She performed at the Electronic Retailing Association's annual conference at the MGM Grand Hotel.

The former news anchor said she moved to Las Vegas about a month ago and dreams of becoming a headliner on the Strip.

"I want to see my name up in those lights, up on those billboards," Flowers said.

She declined to answer specific questions about the current presidential scandal over Clinton's affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky because she said she has no interest in generating any more publicity on the issue.

"They don't need any of my help on that," Flowers said.

However, when asked if her notoriety over her affair with Clinton might help boost her show business career, Flowers said:

"Obviously, it's something that can't be ignored, but at the same time it's something that needs to be handled tastefully and with dignity."

Clinton originally denied having a tryst with Flowers during the 1992 presidential campaign. However, he reportedly acknowledged the affair during his deposition in the Paula Jones case.

Flowers told The Associated Press in January that she felt vindicated by Clinton's admission, saying "it's hard to believe after all this time" that he acknowledged the affair.
