Most losing candidates' signs removed

Candidates who lost in the Sept. 1 primary election may be two-time losers if they failed to remove their campaign signs by midnight Wednesday.

Members of the Clark County Public Response team were out this morning removing any signs that were not removed by candidates or volunteers last night.

If any signs promoting a primary loser are picked up by the response team, a citation can be issued that could include a fine ranging from $250 to $1,000, but the citations can only be issued to the person who physically placed the offending sign.

This being the case, no citations are expected to be given out for signs that should have been removed, because of the difficulty in pinpointing who actually placed a sign.

According to the public response office, 95 percent of the signs from the election have already been picked up thanks to an educational pamphlet that was distributed prior to the election.
