Tour bus driver dumps sewage unlawfully

Douglas County deputies were called to the scene by a witness who said driver Javier Espinoza Hernandez dumped three-quarters of the tank's contents on dirt west of the parking lot.

Deputy Greg Shields said in his report that Hernandez said he emptied the tank on the Best Bet Tour Lines bus after his passengers complained of the odor.

He's charged with depositing an unwholesome substance and acting or neglecting duty in a willful or wanton disregard of public safety. Bail was set at $5,520 for the two gross misdemeanors.

The deputy's report said the sewage covered roughly 50 feet of dirt about half a mile from Lake Tahoe. The mess was cleaned up by two Horizon employees.
